Don’t Know Where to Start with AI? Start Here.

One of the most common things I hear when I speak to new clients is: “We’re interested in AI, but we don’t know where to start.”

And I get it. The landscape is moving fast. There’s hype, there’s fear, and there are a lot of tools out there claiming to do everything from rewriting your emails to reinventing your industry.

But here’s the truth: you don’t have to know everything. You just have to start small—and start with you.

Instead of jumping into the latest trending tool, begin with a problem you already have. Something repetitive. Something annoying. Something you wish you could hand off to an assistant.

That might be:

  • Organising your meeting notes

  • Drafting responses to common emails

  • Creating a first version of a blog post

  • Summarising long PDFs

  • Tidying up messy data

Then try one tool—just one—that could help with that specific task. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just enough to give you a sense of what’s possible.

That first step is where confidence starts to grow. It’s where you stop seeing AI as this mysterious force “out there” and start seeing it as something practical, even personal.

In my consultancy, this is often the entry point for people. Once they feel it in action, the questions change from “Should we be using AI?” to “Where else can we use it?”

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t worry. Just pick one small thing. Let AI make it easier. And build from there.
